Senior Attorney
With more than 25 years of experience in family law, Andrea Poplawski is known for combining deep legal expertise with a grounded, compassionate approach. She has been recognized with numerous professional honors, including service as a Pro Tem Commissioner, the Myra Bradwell Award for helping families in the community, Volunteer Attorney of the Year, and Chair of the Washington State Bar Association’s Character and Fitness Board. Andrea also served on the Board of Trustees for the Northwest Justice Project and has made volunteering a cornerstone of her career, including her time at the Center for Justice and as an Equal Justice Works Fellow representing indigent parents in complex family law cases. Despite her accolades, Andrea believes the heart of her work is simple: helping clients breathe again during one of the hardest chapters of their lives.
My Approach
I take on the legal stress so my clients can focus on themselves, their children, their safety, and their emotional well-being. I listen carefully to understand what my clients need, tell their story with clarity and dignity, and advocate fiercely on their behalf. Family law is never easy, but my goal is to provide steady guidance and support, helping clients feel seen, heard, and empowered as they navigate difficult transitions.
Background
My empathy comes from lived experience. I’ve faced many of the struggles my clients endure: navigating a messy divorce, raising a child as a single parent while working and going to school, and rebuilding life after difficult relationships. I remember the fear, the uncertainty, and the days when money was tight, even wearing coats indoors while waiting for a student loan check. Those experiences taught me resilience and shaped the way I approach every client: without judgment, with understanding, and with unwavering commitment.
I returned to school at 30, already a single parent, determined to build a career that blended advocacy, service, and humanity. After traveling across the country for law school, I settled in the Pacific Northwest, where I raised my son and built a legal career I consider both a privilege and a calling.
About Me
Outside of work, I enjoy a strong co-parenting relationship with my son’s father, though I know many families do not have that same ease. I meet every client with genuine understanding and compassion. I also treasure time outdoors, community involvement, and the small moments that bring balance and joy to everyday life.
