Attorney
Timothy George is an associate attorney focusing his practice on all aspects of family law. Licensed in both Washington and Oregon, he brings a strong background in trial advocacy and complex civil litigation. Tim began his legal career representing clients through serious criminal matters and contested protection order cases, work that put him alongside people during some of the most frightening and consequential moments of their lives. From there, he built a complex litigation practice handling matters in federal and state court, sharpening the strategic, trial-ready advocacy he now brings to family law. A Super Lawyers Rising Star honoree, Timothy was drawn back to family law because it lets him represent people directly in the moments they need steady, skilled advocacy most. He is also a native Russian speaker, able to work directly with Russian-speaking clients without an interpreter.
My Approach
Family law cases rarely feel like “just” a legal matter. They’re tied up in someone’s safety, their children, their home, and their sense of what comes next, and I don’t take that lightly. I bring the same preparation and courtroom-tested advocacy I built defending clients in high-stakes criminal and civil matters to every family law case I handle, whether we’re negotiating a resolution or standing in front of a judge.
I believe clients deserve a lawyer who is honest with them about where their case stands, strategic about how to get them where they need to go, and steady enough to be a calm presence when everything else feels uncertain. I take the time to understand what actually matters to each client. Not just the legal outcome, but the life they’re trying to protect on the other side of it and I build my strategy around that.
Background
My path to family law wasn’t a straight line. I started my career in criminal defense, standing with clients through serious criminal charges, contested protection order hearings, and DHS child-welfare investigations, the kind of matters where someone’s safety, their relationship with their kids, and their whole sense of security are all on the line at once.
From there, I moved into complex civil litigation, representing clients in federal and state court across Oregon and Washington. It sharpened my instincts as a litigator: how to build a case, negotiate from a position of strength, and prepare a matter for trial rather than just for settlement.
Somewhere along the way, I realized what I missed most was representing people directly, not institutions, and practicing the kind of law that changes someone’s day-to-day life. Family law brought me back to that. It combines the two things I care about most as a lawyer: real courtroom skill, and the chance to walk with someone through one of the harder chapters of their life and help them come out the other side more secure than when they started.
I earned my J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law and my B.A. in History from Concordia University Portland.
About Me
Outside the office, you’ll find me on the slopes in the winter and unsuccessfully chasing a good golf swing in the summer. I’m an unapologetic Oxford comma enthusiast, and an Oregon Ducks football fan who thinks every season is going to be the one.
